A Mother's Day Shout-Out from Jacey

Hey Jane DO Fam,

Jacey here, and as Mother’s Day peeks around the corner, my heart feels that familiar mix of overwhelming love and the beautiful chaos that comes with my amazing (and energetic!) three-year-old, Leni. Being a mom in Jersey City and Hoboken is a unique adventure, and it’s got me thinking about all the incredible ways we define "Mom" in our vibrant community and beyond.

Because let’s be real, "Mom" isn't a singular image. It’s the moms navigating playground politics, the aunts offering guidance and fun, the dedicated pet moms of our area, whose fur babies bring so much joy to our lives, and beyond.

The definition of "Mom" is beautifully broad. It's about the act of nurturing, guiding, loving fiercely, and doing what it takes to care for another being. And that, my friends, is inherently badass.

We see the way you juggle schedules, show up for yourselves, and inspire those around you. You are forces of nature, and your dedication to your well-being is just another testament to your incredible strength.

This Mother's Day, let’s celebrate all the ways we DO. Let’s take a moment to acknowledge the tireless effort, the unwavering love, and the sheer power that comes with nurturing another being, in whatever form that takes.

We're so inspired by the amazing mom community right here in our area. For connection and support, I personally can't live without groups like JCmamas and JCFamilies. And for those with little ones exploring their creativity, Tutu School (the shout out to fellow former Rockette and bestie, Purdie Baumann) is just magical.
