I was in class for my friend Danielle's 100th class (#goals!) when she told Taylor about my recent Marathon and asked me to email the story.
On October 9, I ran the Twin Cities Marathon in Minnesota and cut 24 MINUTES OFF MY MARATHON TIME! The Twin Cities Marathon was my 4th Marathon. For my first three, I wasn't able to make it through the training season without some sort of injury due to my weak core - I avoided planks and core like the plague.
Growing up, I wasn't any sort of athlete. My idea of a marathon would include Law & Order. I started running after college because I knew if I didn't make a change in my lifestyle, it would be awful for me down the road.
This Summer, I moved to Jersey City and was introduced to Jane DO. These classes have taught me to push myself in a healthy and fun way. After class one day, I made a promise to myself that I would get through this Marathon injury-free. I ran, went to Jane DO classes, and on the weeks I couldn't make it, I was still doing planks just like I learned in class.
I could never have imagined that the promise to stay injury-free would lead to a personal record! Now that marathon training is over, it's time to get to the studio more so that I can PR in my 5th marathon next year! :)
