How to Get Lucky

Some people call it fate.  Some people call it karma.  Some people call it luck.  But Janes, we are here to tell you to FUCK LUCK.

Everyone has a story or has suffered hardships, in fact most of the world has been dealt a shitty hand once or twice.  What separates you from the rest of the people who sit around and complain about their bad luck, is that you are a DOer!  You know that it takes hard work to create the life you want to live and are ready to put in the time and energy to be your best self!

In case you need a little extra March motivation, here are some tips to create the luck you want and deserve.

    1. Comparison is the thief of joy, so stop feeling sorry for yourself.

Dwelling on what you don’t have is a waste of time and energy.  It is so easy to get caught up in the ‘ifs and buts” of life, but as my mom always said “if ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we would all have a very merry Christmas”.  As in, shut up, stop complaining, and get to work! No one has it all together.  No one has everything easy.  Stop wishing you had it more like someone else, because you are you.  And YOU are in control of YOU.

    2. See your (wine) glass as half full

Don’t underestimate the power of positive thinking! (Or the power of a full wine glass).  We all have bad days or defeating moments, remember to get back up and try again.  Maybe you didn’t get the promotion you were up for, but dwelling in the negative won’t change the outcome nor will it help you get the promotion next time.  Stay positive and keep working.  And remember no one wants to be around a Debbie Downer.

     3. DO it anyway

There are days that we simply just don’t want to.  We don’t want to get out of bed.  We don’t want to go the the gym.  We don’t want to face our fears.  These are the days WE HAVE TO.  The best workouts are the ones you didn’t want to do, because when it’s over you realize that not doing it would have been far worse.  Put your big girl panties on, lace up your sneakers and take on the challenge.  Without challenge there is no change!

     4. Set goals then break them

You can’t get there, if there is no there, there.  In other words you have to know where you are going.  Be specific- run a half marathon, finish your degree, start your own business.  Then when you get there- keep going.  Set new, higher goals.  Remember setbacks are ok and there is no deadline.  You can keep growing and changing until you are 105.

     5. Have a plan and get to work

Positive thinking and setting goals are great, but the real meat and potatoes comes from the DO-ing.  Make a plan that is easy to follow and get to it.  Need help?  Ask.  Don’t know how to do something? Learn.  Plans help to hold us accountable along the way, because if we truly follow our plan, we should see the results we want, or at least progress.  And afterall PROGRESS is PROGRESS.

With your optimism, clear goals, and FUCK LUCK attitude, this March you can take out the wishing and put in the DO-ing.  Don’t worry, you can still drink  green beer, you’ll just know where your luck is really coming from!
